Metlika Mountain Circular Trail – Krašnji Vrh

Technical description of the route

From the mountain lodge, located above the highest village in the Municipality of Metlika at an altitude of 542 metres, a diverse panoramic view opens over the entire Bela Krajina region and a large part of Croatia. Due to the exceptional view, the Metlika Mountaineering Association has built a 17-metre observation tower, arranged a natural climbing wall in the immediate vicinity of the lodge, as well as a bocce court and children’s playground. A marked hiking trail leads from Metlika to the village of Krašnji Vrh and the mountain point, passing through fields, forests and vineyards, via Slamna vas and Bojanja vas. The return section of the circular route from Krašnji Vrh to Metlika runs below Radovica through forested areas (almost without asphalt), past the “Okno” spring below Slamna vas, the “Bečka jama” cave, across the characteristic Bela Krajina steljniki, past Tri fare, and then via Mestni breg and Obrh back to Metlika. The entire route is marked and equipped with directional signs. Hiking time: approx. 3 hours to Krašnji Vrh and 2.5 to 3 hours back to Metlika.
